7 Questions to Ask a Wedding Planner in Spain Before You Book

Before hiring a wedding planner in Spain, ask how they will develop your ideas, organize the work, communicate with you, and manage your wedding day. The answers should help you understand both the service and the people behind it.
Planning your 2027–2028 wedding from the USA or abroad? Casamiga’s Platinum Collection starts from €7,950 + VAT for full planning, bespoke design, and management of one main wedding day. Venue and supplier costs are separate.
1. Can you show us a complete wedding relevant to our plans?
Ask to see a celebration with a similar setting, guest count, or planning challenge. A full story helps you understand how the ceremony, dinner, and party worked together, beyond individual photographs.
Ask what the planner was responsible for and why particular decisions were made. For your own wedding, the reasoning behind a layout or supplier recommendation can matter as much as the finished look.
Explore our real wedding portfolio as a starting point for that conversation.
2. What would you take over in our specific situation?
Describe what is already booked and what you still want help creating. A booked venue alone does not mean the remaining work is limited.
At Casamiga, the starting points are:
Platinum Full Wedding Planning: comprehensive planning and a new bespoke design project.
Gold Partial Wedding Planning: a booked venue and confirmed key suppliers, with agreed planning still to complete and main-day management included.
Silver Wedding Day Coordination: completed plans and confirmed bookings, ready for final handover and management of one day at one venue.
Your proposal should define the responsibilities you are handing over.

3. How will we make decisions while living abroad?
Ask how meetings, approvals, and next actions are organized across time zones. You should understand which decisions need your input and how confirmed choices reach the suppliers involved.
Tell the planner how involved you want to be. Perhaps you enjoy comparing ideas but want help narrowing the options. Perhaps you want to approve a clear recommendation. Discussing this early helps establish a working relationship that suits you.
4. How will our ideas become a practical wedding design?
Bring a few references and explain what attracts you to them: the atmosphere, colors, lighting, or way people gather.
For example, a candlelit outdoor dinner involves more than flowers. Table placement, lighting, rentals, supplier access, and the venue’s conditions all affect what can be created.
Ask which design decisions the service develops and which production costs are separate. With Platinum, bespoke design forms part of the planning service; supplier services, materials, rentals, and production are budgeted separately.
5. Who will manage the wedding day?
Ask who your on-site contact will be, what the team will manage, and how responsibilities connect with the venue and suppliers. Discuss the arrangements if the assigned lead becomes unavailable.
You should know who receives operational questions while you are getting ready and celebrating with your guests.
If your venue includes its own coordinator, use our planner and venue coordinator comparison to
clarify the coverage already agreed.
6. What does the planning fee cover?
Check the professional fee, applicable VAT, included services, and exclusions together. Keep venue and supplier expenditure separate from the planning fee.
A welcome celebration or farewell gathering adds another event to organize. At Casamiga, the Platinum planning fee covers your main wedding day. Planning and management for each additional day are quoted separately after your Discovery Call, with venue and supplier costs budgeted separately.
See our current planning services and prices for the published starting fees and package details.
7. What will the proposal help us decide?
A useful proposal connects your priorities with the work required. Look for a clear service scope, the planning fee, exclusions, and the responsibilities you will retain.
During your Casamiga Discovery Call, we discuss your date, guest count, budget, existing bookings, and the support you want. That conversation informs the next steps towards a tailored proposal.
You can begin the conversation with a preferred season or area, even if you have not chosen a venue.
