8 Best Wedding Venues on the Costa Brava in 2026

  • May 4
  • 5 min read

We've planned weddings at every venue on this list. These are our honest assessments — what each location does best, what it doesn't offer, and which couple it's actually right for.

What makes the Costa Brava different from other Spanish regions?

The Costa Brava runs 200 km of coastline from Blanes to the French border — clifftop gardens, medieval castles, botanical terraces, and seafront convents. Most international guests fly into Girona Airport (GRO), which sits 35–75 minutes from the main venue cluster and is served by Ryanair and easyJet from London, Manchester, Dublin, and Amsterdam. After 100+ weddings in this region, our conclusion is consistent: the right venue depends on three decisions — whether accommodation matters, the size of your guest group, and whether you need a full-day space or a ceremony-only setting.

Jardines de Santa Clotilde — the most dramatic ceremony setting on the Costa Brava

Designed in 1919, these 26,830 m² of sculpted clifftop terraces above Lloret de Mar are the most photographed ceremony space on the Costa Brava — and a filming location for House of the Dragon. Ceremony hire from €2,000. Critical practical detail: this is a ceremony-only venue — no food or drink in the gardens. Most couples pair the gardens with the adjacent Casa de Santa Clotilde for cocktails and dinner 100 metres away. The two-location format becomes part of the experience.

Best for: couples who prioritise the ceremony photograph above all else · Not for: those wanting a single all-day venue

Convent de Blanes — best for 65–220 guests with sea views and late music

El Convent de Blanes is the strongest option for larger celebrations on the Costa Brava. Genuine medieval architecture, panoramic Mediterranean views, indoor dancing until 3 AM (rare in this region), and a tested rain contingency. Venue hire: €6,600–€12,500 (2026). Minimum F&B: €250 per guest. 35 minutes from Girona Airport. Book 10–12 months ahead for peak Saturdays.

Best for: 65–220 guests wanting history, sea views, and a late-night licence · Not for: intimate groups under 50

Castell Empordà — the benchmark for castle wedding weekends in Catalonia

Named one of Europe's best wedding venues by The Sunday Times, this 14th-century castle hotel in La Bisbal d'Empordà offers 57 rooms for up to 115 guests on-site. The venue operates as a wedding weekend, not a single-day event — minimum 4 nights, minimum 12 rooms. Minimum F&B: €150 per guest. Beneath the castle, a natural cave with professional sound handles late-night dancing. No sea views — this is inland Empordà. Peak Saturdays book 18–24 months ahead. 45 minutes from Girona Airport.

Best for: couples who want a full castle weekend with guests staying on-site · Not for: single-day events or those needing a sea view

A 14th-century farmhouse rebuilt in 2014 within the protected Garraf Natural Park — formerly the summer residence of King Alfonso XIII. Panoramic sea views, 6 sea-view suites, civil ceremony permitted on-site, external catering allowed (minimum €200 per guest), soundproofed nightclub until 3 AM. Venue hire: €8,000–€12,500. How to choose the right Costa Brava venue for your wedding

Three questions narrow the decision quickly. Do you need guests staying on-site? If yes: Castell Empordà (115 guests), Xalet de Nin (8 rooms), or Masia Casa del Mar (6 suites). How many guests? For 150+, only Convent de Blanes and Bell Recó accommodate without compromise. Ceremony-only or full day? Jardines de Santa Clotilde and Jardines Marimurtra are ceremony-only by design.
